mhhh ... especially for servers power does matter, power usage does not matter at all but that is only a economical question, i got curious here do you run your server really on DC or battery?

If the scaling governor is quick enough to detect the need and perform the transition, most workloads should not see an actual performance hit by having this enabled. And saving power during idle periods is the right thing to do for a number of reasons, even on servers. However, I've not conducted any benchmarks of the transition speeds etc, so I don't know how well this theory holds in the real world.
