Please read my blog entry. The ACPI interpreter isn't broken, the BIOS just doesn't read from the hardware like it should. To quote "Every time that 'I need to patch my DSDT' has come up, it's been a case where the parser needed fixing." - this is such a time where this isn't the case. In my case LENOVO just isn't accessing the hardware in their code, they just fill the battery values with pre-defined constants. My modified DSDT actually reads from the hardware, so I'm pretty sure that can't be fixed with a kernel update. The changes to the DSDT are pretty large.
