You said your time is set 5 hours into the future, it means your time is set at UTC. It is my understanding that the NTP sometimes doesn't sync the time if your PC time is too far apart from real time (i.e. date wrong and/or time hours apart) I do the following steps to get it right:
1. disable NTP first
2. select the correct TimeZone, disable UTC
3. set it to correct time and date
4. enable NTP
5. set advanced options
[x] synchronize system to clock before starting service
NOTE: this one is important. I know I get the same problem you have when I forget to set this one.

Following the EXACT steps are IMPORTANT here.

I followed your instructions to the letter. The problem is when I adjust date and time, the time is correct there. The time on the panel is 5 hours into the future. When I run date from the terminal the time is correct.

Thanks,
Jason
