Why not?

In the real world no one project can service the needs of everyone.

Fedora is designed to meet the needs of a very specific group of
users, ie. people who want their distribution of choice to steer
well clear of proprietary entanglements.

Other distributions service other groups of people. If someone got
on one of their mailing lists and demanded that they ship only open
source software, hopefully that person would be encouraged to join
Fedora which is specificially designed for his or her needs.
