But I'd like to test the ia64 box with a LiveCD or

Correct. AMD64 (x86-64) bits do not worn on itanium.
and FC5 doesn't have ia64
support on installable media. How can I install FC5
on this itanium box?
You can't.
Besides, I was wondering what is the status of Oracle
support in RHEL4 for ia64. Red Hat site says this
arch is supported so I guess Oracle works fine there:
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-4-Manual/release-notes/as-itanium/

Oracle is supported on RHEL4 Itanium distro.
