What you mean (I think) is making all GtkComboBoxes' popups (or dropdowns) appear below/above the GtkComboBox (leaving it in place for second click), not making this "empty space", instead only scrolling in the area from the GtkComboBox to the start/end of the screen (depending on where it appeared). If it can be changed in theme, than it is a good idea to ask BlueCurve authors to work on it. Otherwise, aren't we on a wrong list? Lam
