Indeed (just installing a new rawhide so I can see the effect...), if
that doesn't work you can use the g-p-m dbus interface:

dbus-send --session \
	  --dest=org.gnome.PowerManager \
	  --type=method_call \
	  --print-reply \
	  --reply-timeout=2000 \
	  /org/gnome/PowerManager \
	  org.gnome.PowerManager.Hibernate
