It plays more than the mplayer/vlc/xine that is in fedora, given that they're not there :) > The latest totem-1.3.0-3, while navigating through file system, often > freezes Do you mean that these freezes happen in the file selector ? Do you see the same freezes when navigating the file system with other gtk-based applications, like, say, gedit ? If so, it sounds like a fileselector problem - make sure to file a bug upstream. > and > doing strace of pid gives continuously something like what below. Not sure why you're copying a meaningless strace output snippet. What were you doing in totem while strace'ing ? It looks to be in a glib mainloop (see poll) which is fine, because you're running a GNOME app. The shmctl could be anything - for example, X shared memory being copied. > Does it make sens to include totem in core, when every one that wants to see > videos in fedora, removes totem and installs then totem-xine (plus > decoding/navigating > libraries) or other similar applications like mplayer or vlc? Not everyone does. If you feel mplayer provides you with a richer user experience, please do so. But other people want to work towards an end solution that can be distributed. Mplayer/vlc/xine aren't it.
