The policy as written also says to check the vacation calendar, so if you had marked yourself "away" on the calendar that would have perhaps avoided getting to the next step:

There are a lot of policies which I am not sure we as packagers keep in mind. I went and looked and saw that only 2 to 3 packagers seemed to have taken off for the break, but I know that list was MUCH bigger. I am not sure what the solution to this.. people hate getting told to retrain themselves or get reminders that putting vacation time is needed (aka they will just stick that in a donotread folder) but what we all learned and did when we started packaging decades ago isn't what is done now.
