Absolutely agreed. I find this sort of behavior by FESCo unacceptable. > Yes, Peter is hard to get along with at times, and yes he can be brusque, > pushy, and grumpier than any mule or cow I have had the 'pleasure' to work > with, and I have been at the tail end of his tongue multiple times over the > years in Fedora. I have worked with Peter for years; I consider him a friend, so my opinion is biased. Having worked with software/hardware developers for several decades, I find him no more rough around the edges than most anyone in the industry :). Regardless, one does not become PP without some demonstration of Doing The Right Thing for Fedora, and that has always, always, always, been my experience in working with Peter -- not only in Fedora, but at Linaro, and at Red Hat. There are some who are very possessive of their packages. I wrestle with that myself. However, in over a decade as a packager, I have never seen an update to dist-git that wasn't needed, and apart from the broadcast announcements, have never gotten advance warning. More importantly, I appreciate the changes -- this is volunteer work and every little bit helps. I have learnt to "get over myself", put my ego aside, and that I don't have to control everything. I honestly wish more packagers could see these things as what they are -- attempts to help, not some infringement on their personal territory. > In the future, I would hope that these matters are dealt with in a public > setting or make sure that items are published before you announce > judgement. A litany of these sorts of things is why I am a Debian Developer Emeritus -- I lost my patience with it all and finally left after 20+ years as a DD. This is the first time I have been seriously disappointed in Fedora. I would argue that unless this discussion can be open and transparent, Peter's PP status should be immediately reinstated. I would further argue that such decisions should be community decisions, perhaps via a secret ballot, rather than a FESCo decision. -- Ciao, al ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Al Stone E-mail: ahs3@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -- _______________________________________________ devel mailing list -- devel@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send an email to devel-leave@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Fedora Code of Conduct: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/code-of-conduct/ List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Do not reply to spam, report it: https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/new_issue
