I just recently got an Epson ET-2400, and I didn't need a driver to print. Is this even necessary?
I have an Epson XP-352, both the printer and scanner work well, and my desktop doesn't have any of the epson-inkjet-printer-escpr* packages installed.
My question is the same: is this even necessary? If it replaces the proprietary blobs to open-source components, are there any advantages of using epson-inkjet-printer-escpr instead of the default drivers detected by CUPS?
