Nice idea. Speaking as a former president of the official Douglas
Adams appreciation society, I approve. :-)

It may interest you to know that Ubuntu 10.10 was launched on 10/10/10
as a tribute.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MaverickMeerkat

101010 in binary is 42 in decimal. The London launch party fpor Ubuntu
10.10 was co-hosted with ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha's annual general meeting
in the same venue. I was there for both.

If the launch is a bit delayed you could schedule it for Towel Day,
celebrated in memory of Douglas Adams, which is 25th May.

That would be a lovely touch and widely appreciated. While I worked
for Red Hat in Brno I travelled to Prague for the Towel Day
celebration, which was pretty big and well-attended, and I was the
only attendee who had met Adams personally.

I am sure ZZ9 would be happy to co-host again if you asked. I can put
you in touch. It's very much still around: https://zz9.org/

Other references: his middle name was Noel so his initials were DNA.
He used the email address dna@xxxxxxxxx for a while. His autograph
looks like it says "Bop Ad" which is his nickname among long time
fans.

In the book, 6×9 = 42

This works in base 13. This was unintentional and Adams said "I may be
a sorry case, but I don't write jokes in base 13." It is also not
because it's ASCII for `*` and the series was written on a typewriter,
and predates the common use of `*` as a wildcard. The HHGTTG very
nearly predates CP/M and Adams was averse to computers until the Mac
came out. He and Stephen Fry argued over who had the first Mac in the
UK; both claimed it.

So _please_ do not accept, use or refer to any "explanations" or
answers as to why 42; they are all wrong and just made up. It's a
source of great irritation to old-time HHGTTG fans.

There are, however, tons of excellent 42-themed designs out there.
Many involve whales and bowls of petunias, among other things, and of
course the slogan "Life, the Universe, and Everything." Dolphins and
mice often feature, too. However the film's stylised thumb logo is
inadvisable -- copyrights and things -- and the green alien smiley
logo was only used on US editions and is little known elsewhere, and
where it's known it's disliked.
