Since 2010, we’ve had a package emacs-terminal, with the following description:

Contains a desktop menu item running GNU Emacs terminal. Install
emacs-terminal if you need a terminal with Malayalam support.

Please note that emacs-terminal is a temporary package and it will be
removed when another terminal becomes capable of handling Malayalam.

Does anyone know if another Malayalam-capable terminal now exists?

I tried copying the string “മലയാളം” from the Malayalam Wikipedia page into Gnome
Terminal, and it looks okay to me, but I really don’t know what I’m looking for.

Answering my own question, reportedly Konsole supports Malayalam. (https://smc.org.in/en/articles/malayalam-linux-console/).

I shall drop the emacs-terminal subpackage from rawhide.
