What is the status of i686 in Fedora?

Hi,

Recently, Linux-PAM released v1.7.0, which among other changes, now requires the fop package to build the documentation. However, this package depends on Java, which is missing for the i686 architecture. As a result, I am unable to rebase and build PAM in rawhide.

I've discovered two related Fedora System Wide Changes: one encourages dropping unused or leaf packages on i686, the other indicates the removal of i686 JDKs. But I haven't found any System Wide Change that formally removes this architecture.

As you know, PAM is a core Fedora package, and discontinuing the i686 build would effectively mean ending support for this architecture. So, my question is: can I proceed and stop building PAM for i686?
