Just so I don't forget (as I have no time to dig into this today), I see
some related information and patches for PrusaSlicer at
https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/pull/13081 conveniently supplied
by Mr. Rineau.

It seems that there should be some way to get things building and we
should definitely pull some version of what is there, but watch to see
if something actually gets merged.  Unfortunately I don't see any
comments from upstream and no activity for a couple of weeks so it might
be a while.  Upstream has increasingly moved towards bundling so I'm not
sure they are particularly interested in compilation with the latest
version of any of the libraries they use.
