It looks like something in the build system is flipping warnings into hard errors (note the bit about dead-code in the error message). All that's happening here is a lint is upset that there's a field that isn't being read. To fix it you could potentially override the warning-to-error, or you could patch out the unread field. Is Fedora and/or the spec file setting -D warnings?
