Search provides are normally only started when something actually talks
to it. Then normally it will quit 1 to 5 minutes after last use. (This
is how a *typical* GNOME search provider works. I'm not familiar with
the Firefox search provider, but I'd be pretty surprised if it was
running when not used.)
