For tracking down compatibility issues, you can also use mock with the instrumented compiler repository: <https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Toolchain/PortingToModernC#Special_COPR_repository_with_instrumented_GCC> This is based on GCC 13, so fewer moving parts.
