No shared libpthread or libdl on x86_64?

it appears that there is no shared libpthread or libdl on x86_64. The lack of these shared libraries is causing applications linking against libgc to fail with undefined symbols.

Can anyone confirm this (I don't have access to any x86_64 box)? Is this on purpose or a (glibc) bug?
