That's a reasonable timeline, except not everyone reads the devel mailing list so they might have found out only today that there's something they need to do. I would've done a rebuild in COPR before announcing and doing it in Fedora and contacted maintainers of FTBFS packages directly at the same time. You wouldn't have been pressed for time to merge the side tag quickly, then. It's very easy to automate, too.
