Some more thoughts?
I'd rather see the requires go away completely, as they anyway don't
specify which kernel will actually be running on the machine, so
packaging should not try solving something it is not designed todo.
Having the Requires: at least ensures that there is a kernel *capable*
of running the package installed on the system, and, possibly more
importantly, gives a clue to anyone installing the package that they may
need a kernel upgrade in order for it to work (if they don't already
have a suitable kernel installed). Dropping the requirement may result
in additional bug reports from people running older kernels that aren't
aware of the kernel version requirement.
Are there any advantages in *not* having the Requires:?
Paul.
