I wish this was update to suggest to create git repository right from start.

BTW I think that fedpkg could help with this task and therefore opened this RFE:

I have attempted to modify the tutorial to use a Git repository, see [1].
As you see from the comments, there is some resistance to this idea.
I actually I have to agree: Building packages should be possible without necessarily mixing in Git. So I think the better path is to improve the tutorial and tools so that everything works nicely without Git. A lot has already done, as you will see from the changelog for upcoming rpkg 1.66 and fedpkg [2,3].
