It works to some degree. E.g. it operates on license texts. Not on license declarations. It also requires the license without a context. E.g. without warranty disclaimers. Without programming laguage comment markers. Though I usually resort to opening all MIT-like licenses, "X11" is one of them, from an SPDX license list <https://spdx.org/licenses/> and comparing them against my license. -- Petr
