Found a better bug report:
https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/20914
Something similar affects kernel 5.18.x and VirtualBox and they're
looking into it. There's even a VirtualBox patch and an update later.
From Larry Finger in the Linux Kernel Mailing List at
https://lkml.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/2205.0/00217.html they have a
possible cause:

use computational hash for entropy extraction"). I am very sure of the
bisection as the kernel built from the commit that immediately precedes
this one, cfb92440ee71 - a tag commit by Linus, runs correctly.
But they don't know about it affecting only some CPUs, perhaps.
