It has broken hundreds of packages in Fedora, and is (IMHO) wrongly
implemented.  It shouldn't fiddle around with build flags, but should
use the same rpm-build mechanism as strip/debuginfo to post-process
ELF files found in the RPM.

Or maybe it should be discussed in another meeting?
