You say it didn't build.  What error messages did you get when you ran the mock command?

You may already know this, but if you are a new mock user, you have to add yourself to the 'mock' group.  If you run the 'id' command, it should tell you what groups you are in, and 'mock' has to be one of the ones the 'id' command lists.
