The pull request to bump the version is here [1].

In my understanding, there is no real (workable) alternative to the
update right now. If we'd delay it, the next bump will be to 4.1. If
a dependent package was not updated for 4.0, the step for the upgrade
to django-4.1 will be even bigger.
