You'd still need as many servers and services, but add more dependencies
between them, right?

Anyway, I'm not sure that I'm the right person and this is the right
place to discuss this, but lets just say that in the unlikely(?) event
that Fedora would actually include Heimdal, enabling the LDAP backend by
default should not be done without careful consideration.
