caret in package version?

Hi all,

Just quickly checking before I file a bug.

The package containing ag (called "the_silver_searcher") currently has a caret symbol (^) between the version and the snapshot info. The guidelines seem to say about having shapshot information in the release tag:

Those items which are present are combined (with periods to separate them) to construct the final Release: tag. In the usual notation where square brackets indicate that an item is optional:

Am I correct in understanding that the caret symbol in this case should actually be replaced by a period: the_silver_searcher-2.2.0^2020704.5a1c8d8-1.fc34.x86_64.rpm?

Reason I'm asking: this seems to be a fairly recent change and it breaks mirroring Fedora using Nexus.

Maxim
