This comes up a lot. And everytime it comes up I suggest that the first step that interested community members can do is edit the comps.xml file that defines the groups the installer uses. The very first thing users interested in a smaller 'minimal' install can do is reorganize the comps.xml so the minimal install installs less without disturbing the desktop/workstation/server install types. A reworked comps.xml is easy to hand out for the rest of the community to test by rebuild isos and doing test installs.
