There has not been an upstream release since 2007 - the maintainer Mark
Crispin sadly died in 2012, and nobody else has formed an upstream
around it.

It's my recollection that Mark Crispin was let go at the University of Washington some years prior to that (I distinctly recall a message to comp.mail.imap noting that), and uw-imap's ownership and maintenance was picked up by whoever remained over there.
