I think we have a fix for that. Let me poke at things a bit.

Have read: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=Mesa-i915-OpenGL-2-Drop

In the link Alexei posted to Arch, the following workaround is given:

In /etc/drirc
<driconf>
...
    <device driver="i915">
        <application name="Default">
            <option name="stub_occlusion_query" value="true" />
            <option name="fragment_shader" value="true" />
        </application>
    </device>
...
</driconf>

And a link is given to show how to apply it to only some applications (like X!?):
https://dri.freedesktop.org/wiki/ConfigurationInfrastructure/

I alse see the following change from Adam Jackson:
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/xorg-x11-drv-intel/c/c4ced62fa2de98fd727c917486e58b1e753d23f9?branch=master
that boost the git version from 20180618 to 20200205.

BTW, thanks I was searching for an example of package using a git version rather than a released archive!

Well, I don't have an opinion on the request from Alexei to downgrade the package before release... I am mostly trying to understand what is going on.
