Thank you for reaching out before updates. However borgbackup should be fine:
We are bundling an older version right now on F30+ and EPEL 8.

Upstream has compatibility with msgpack 0.6 (and hopefully 1.0) in their dev
branch so I hope to drop the bundling when the next major release of
borgbackup is released.

If I have some spare cycles I'll try to run the upstream test suite with
msgpack 1.0.
