Hi,

I'm a long-time user of Fedora, but have yet to contribute. My experience is as a software engineer, and I have a couple of small previous open source contributions (here's[1] my github) - hopefully this will be my first to Fedora.

I'd like to take over maintaining the package for brightnessctl[2], which was orphaned a little while ago when the previous maintainer had to step away[3]. I've opened an issue on pagure[4] and mentioned my interest to the brightnessctl maintainers, but I'm not quite sure the process from here. The previous version of the brightnessctl package needs a few updates before it's ready to be re-included - for example I'd like to move it to the latest upstream, and enable the sd-bus integration. I'd very much appreciate any pointers.

I've seen the page on orphaned packages[5], and I'm trying to follow the instructions there. I think the next step is to open a Package Review request on bugzilla, including a new spec file - is that right?

Thanks,
James
