I totally agree, the simplest solution is someone ask for an Python2
exception, IIUC. Because maintainers and co-maintainers doesn't had
time to do that .
Well, for example the maintainer of freeorion had more than three months to request an exception or ask us to do so but nothing happened. If a maintainer has no time to maintain their packages they can find somebody else who is interested to help with it.
