Sure, isn't it also unrealistic to expect to receive a massive library of software and contribute nothing in return?  Do you have an inherent right to the product of the work that other people do to fulfill their own needs?  Free Software requires participation.

You've complained that Fedora has become about dropping things, but those "things" don't exist unless someone makes them.
