Can you add it to fedora-obsolete-packages? Otherwise the old version will remain on every Fedora machine.
I am not 100% sure how to do this, but it appears that I file a BZ and a proven package or the fedora-obsoletes-packages maintainer does the deed.
If you have additional guidance or if I should take additional action, please let me know.
