Changing the meaning of such a widely used command that way is just wrong.

I don't see what benefit this change brings to users.

Why can't python just mean Python 2 forever and python3 mean Python 3? And 
people should just stop using unsuffixed Python anyway, or the exact same 
issue will come back with Python 4 whenever it happens. So why would you 
want to encourage such use?
