Why is there a difference? What is the significance of the appended (openmpi-x86_64)?

The appended (openmpi-x86_64) is neccessary to distinguish between the openmpi libmpi.so library from the mpich one.

Actually I wonder whether this is related to a general dependency generation problem I'm also hitting. i.e. this qgis build I submitted yesterday [1] is missing all provides on the shared libraries it ships (and which are not excluded by a provides filter), whereas the local build I did before correctly includes them (i.e.

libqgis_analysis.so.2.18.20()(64bit)
libqgis_app.so.2.18.20()(64bit)
libqgis_core.so.2.18.20()(64bit)
libqgis_gui.so.2.18.20()(64bit)
libqgis_networkanalysis.so.2.18.20()(64bit)

).
