signon-glib 2.0 soname bump (affects only telepathy-accounts-signon)

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi everybody,

TL;DR version:

- signon-glib: update from 1.9 → 2.0
- soname bump: libsignon-glib.so.1 → libsignon-glib.so.2
- affected packages: 1 (telepathy-accounts-signon)
- packages needing patches: 1 (↑), already available upstream

I'll push the update and make the required changes to t-a-s myself in
a week if there's no veto, and I also volunteer to become
(co-)maintainer of t-a-s.

Long version:

I'm planning to update the signon-glib package (upstream name:
libsignon-glib) to version 2.0.
This new version bump the soname from libsignon-glib.so.1 to
libsignon-glib.so.2. Some of my packages will soon require this new
version, since it obsoletes the new defunct libgsignon-glib package.

Currently, the only consumer of this shared library is, if my
repoquery was correct, telepathy-accounts-signon (-owner@xxxxxx is
CC'd). A local straight rebuild failed, because of some small API
changes that come with the new version. However, the upstream project
already has patches to adapt to the new API in its master branch.

I'm planning to update the package in approx. one week (~Nov. 3). If I
don't get a "stop, don't do this (yet)" response by then, I'll push my
update to rawhide, add the required patches to the
telepathy-accounts-signon package, and push an updated build for it
too.

(Being a provenpackager sure has its benefits. Although, if the
current maintainers need some "official" help, I'd also volunteer to
become (co-)maintainer, as well.)
