A mailserver that is unable to do that is not worth being called by that
name. Exim is similar to sendmail in being more like a construction set
for mail servers than a mailserver. There are a lot of parts doing different
things that you can arrange at your leisure in order to route and transport
mail through the system. This means that there are usually several ways do
do something.

exims advantage is that it's config readable by human beings (ok, there
are a lot of {}).
