There's also AUTOPOINT='intltoolize --automake --copy' which gedit needs for autoreconf to not break things.

Of course, it'd be better to improve gedit's build system, but my point is that there are going to be problems building many modules if we try running autoreconf automatically. And trying to detect and run autogen.sh instead won't work, because it rightly often isn't distributed.

BTW gnome-autogen.sh has been deprecated for a long time, so not much should be using it nowadays. gedit is kinda stuck in the past.
