The EPEL guidelines for Python [1] still recommend these for EPEL6 instead of %{python2_sitelib}, etc.  Is that still the case, or should those guidelines be updated?

AFAIK all of those macros are available in EPEL6. Will check and open an issue at http://pagure.io/packaging-committee/
