Short answer:
	Think what happens when you delete a package.

Longer answer:
        install kernel-1.0-1 - modules are just put into /lib/mod...
        install kernel-1.0-2 - modules added, then converted to symlinks
        [now rpm -Vv fails because there are symlinks, not files]
        remove kernel-1.0-1
        now kernel-1.0-2 has dangling symlinks 
        (oh, and you can't boot either)
