[SO-NAME BUMP] libjson-c.so.4 comes to fc28 and Rawhide

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello folks,

I'll update json-c to v0.13.1 for fc28 and Rawhide. This will bump
libjson-c so-name from 3 to 4 without any changes to the API. The bump
was done, because some distributions already bumped the so-name to 3
with json-c v0.12 on their own.

I'll bump and rebuild all affected packages in one run. There are no
adjustments nor patches needed.

There might be some general fallout for builds of many packages in
Rawhide for a few minutes; see `Circular dependencies` for the
reason.

I don't see any big complications during the rebuild as v0.13.1 just
brings the set of patches I already carried downstream in the present
v0.13 builds.

As soon as the builds are done, I'll give a short update of the status.

Cheers,
  Björn

=== Circular dependencies ===

Since we have a circular dependency in rebuilding cryptsetup (and many
other packages having direct or indirect (systemd !!!) BuildRequires on
that package, I'll do the rebuild chains in two passes:

json-c (with a copy of libjson-c.so.3* included) : cryptsetup

and after the rebuilt cryptsetup has landed the build-repos:

json-c (final build, no copy of libjson-c.so.3*) : $other_packages
