Hi
I've proposed a change to update to giflib-5.x for F28+ [1] (which is an
incompatible update from the current giflib-4.x). I did some initial
testing in this COPR repo [1], and have hit a problem with
java-1.8.0-openjdk, which has a BR on itself (java-1.8.0-openjdk-devel),
resulting in it wanting to pull in also giflib-4 (since the current
build is compiled against giflib-4), and hence leading to a conflict
when installing the build dependencies. So I'd need to do a bootstrap
build of java-1.8.0-openjdk without giflib support. Can someone familiar
with openjdk packaging suggest the best way to proceed? My attempt to
just leave out BR: giflib-devel ended up in
*** SRC specified to SetupNativeCompilation LIBSPLASHSCREEN contains
missing directory
/builddir/build/BUILD/java-1.8.0-openjdk-1.8.0.151-3.b12.fc28.x86_64/openjdk/jdk/src/share/native/sun/awt/giflib.
Stop.
Note: a side-by-side of giflib-4 and giflib-5 is not possible since per
upstream both install the header to /usr/include/gif_lib.h, and moving
the header downstream would require patching dependent packages to tell
them where to find the correct header.
Thanks
Sandro
