Hello,
I'd like to remove 'mysql-connector-odbc' package from Fedora.
I'm looking for feedback for such an action.
For a long time 'mysql-connector-odbc' was the only connector of its kind in Fedora.
However it is not update for a many releases, because upstream disabled dynamic linking. It was building agains MariaDB for quite a time too. But that building broke, when MariaDB renamed its library. Now, actually, in F27 & Rawhide it is not even working anymore, because of the missing library.
A month back, MariaDB upstream released its own ODBC conncetor - finally working and in GA version. On the other hand, this 'mariadb-connector-odbc' works only with the new, renamed library. (that is F27 & Rawhide)
At this point, I'd like to see 'mysql-connector-odbc' die in order to actual, working and fresh software to be present.
If any of you does use 'mysql-connector-odbc', I'd love to hear your opinion!
before I'm making any official move.

There are other ways too. Mostly variations of getting the static library from somewhere and link statically.
However the effort needed to fix it in any such a way, would be big.
