Leonard started libatasmart to modernize SMART access for desktop systems, etc, but it seems that it is languishing now. I have an open issue for libatasmart misreading the data from FLASH drives:

In the meantime, smartmontools was modified to use a dynamic parameter mapping for new drives; I am not sure if this is a reasonable feature for libatasmart, and could it be shared between them, but maybe we should discuss the future directions.
