The number of packages affected by the soname bump is quite big though and I think it needs a compat package. We probably wouldn't have to keep it around for a long time, but maybe it should be there during the F26 lifetime and get retired in F27. This is a bit pressing right now because webkitgtk4 is currently failing to rebuild and that is causing broken deps for Workstation and leading to the QA nightly tests not working and so on. I also imagine there are a bunch of third party packages that are still linking with old libwebp soname and would benefit if we kept the ABI compatibility as well.
