I'm not seeing that here (Although I haven't rebooted yet today). 

More information would be of help:

1. Check logs and see exactly what was updated. Do any of those things
look suspect? glibc or kde base libs (since it sounds like you are in
kde?)

2. Check selinux avcs and/or boot/switch to permissive, do things start
working then?

3. Try another DE and see if the problem happens there?
